Charlotte, N.C. – Some homeowners may want to wear a holster to house the new WORX® SD SemiAutomatic Driver because this tool delivers bits like no other screwdriver on the market. It features a six slot revolving chamber that rotates screw-driving bits in and out as needed. Shift from slotted to Phillips to Torx® or square recess without touching the bit.

Inside the tool’s body is a rotating circular cartridge that holds six, 1-in., hex-shanked bits. Draw back the magazine (cover) to advance a bit into the chamber, then slide forward, and it’s ready to drive screws. If a pilot hole is needed, there’s even a hex-shanked screw starter drill bit. Each bit is loaded into the cartridge, so storage or lost bits are never an issue.

The rotating cartridge assures that the most common bits are always in place and ready to use. Since 1-in., hex-shanked bits are widely available at hardware stores and home centers, the user can customize the cartridge to meet specific needs, whether the job calls for slotted, Phillips, square-recess, hex, Torx or a combination of bits.

The WORX SD SemiAutomatic Driver is powered by a 4V Lithium-ion built-in battery. Lithium-ion batteries can hold a charge for up to 18 months. The plug-in charger brings the driver to a full charge in 5 hours. Constructed of nylon composite with a comfortable rubber grip on the handle, the SD driver features a two-finger trigger, an LED light to illuminate the work area, plus a forward/reverse rotation button. The 1.0 lb. tool has a ¼-in. chuck, a no-load speed of 230 rpm with a maximum torque of 27 in.-lbs.

The kit includes the SemiAutomatic Driver, 2 bit cartridges, and 11 screwdriving bits: Phillips #0, #1, #2; Slotted #4, Hex #3, #4, #5mm; square recess #1, #2 and T10 and T20 Torx bits. Also included is a screw starter drill bit and 5-hour charger.

The WORX SD SemiAutomatic Driver (WX254L, $49.99) is expected to be available in October 2012.
