Stanley Tripod Flashlight 95-112B - Review

I have always been a fan of the Stanley Tripod Flashlight, and have reviewed the predecessor to this one (95-112).  I’m happy to say that even though I never really had any issues with some of the negatives I read on other reviews, Stanley obviously pays attention, because this new and improved model addresses all of the problems mentioned in other reviews.

So here’s what Stanley says about this flashlight:

  • Energy Efficient, High Power LED bulb (0.5W / 30 Lumens)
  • Adjustable head and tripod legs make this a truly hands free worklight
  • Aluminum construction legs
  • Shatter resistant lens and strong focused beam of light

So what is different about this flashlight?  Several improvements have been made while keeping the overall design that was so functional. First, the predecessor to this flashlight took either 3, 6, or 9 batteries.  That seemed to confuse some folks for whatever reason.  This flashlight simply runs on 3 AA Batteries.

Next, the batteries used to go into the legs of the flashlight.  I read several complaints about the rubber feet that screwed onto the legs to hold the batteries in place.  Some people said they would fall off, which is a problem.  On this updated model, the batteries are placed in the center chamber, and the beefier cap screws on securely and stays in place.

The center chamber itself is different.  There were a few complaints that once the legs had been released to act as a tripod several times, that they would no longer stay closed up to use as a hand held flashlight.

Like I said, I never had that problem, but these legs are thinner and thinner pieces of aluminum and the bottoms of each leg are held in place with magnets.  That solves that problem!

The lens of the flashlight is also shaped a bit differently.  I'm not really sure why that is.  The newer version overall seems a lot lighter, but the head especially, so maybe that's the reason it's shaped differently.  Comparatively, they are both very bright.

Seems to me that Stanley has taken a good product, listened to what few negatives there were, and fixed them!
