SKIL  iXO Vivo Corkscrew Kit

The SKIL iXO cordless screwdriver is a perfect tool for light-duty household projects, like installing window coverings, removing the battery compartment covers from toys, removing or installing light switch plates, etc.

Now,  SKIL has taken this handy cool tool to the next level and made it perfect for any party!  Mom will love her new SKIL iXO Vivo Corkscrew Kit.  And guys, we bet you'll be kind of fond of it too!  The Vivo accessory attaches to the iXO and makes opening a bottle of wine as easy as removing a screw (which you can also do with the iXO cordless screwdriver included in the kit).

Tool Skool will be getting one of these to review soon, but what could possibly be wrong with it?  I mean, it's a tool that opens wine.  What's not to love?

In the meantime, you can check out Marc Lyman's video review (HomeFixated.com) HERE.

ZIPSNIP Cutter

We just recently got this tool to review.  I knew that SKIL had a version, but wanted to try the Rockwell Tools version, as the handle appeared a bit different and potentially more ergonomic.  I'm still in the process of testing it out, but so far, I love it every bit as much as I love the SKIL version and so, guys, I offer this as an idea for you to give dear ole Mom.

If you haven't already gathered, it's a 3.6V Lithium-Ion Cordless Cutter, and man does it cut!  According to the package, it cuts cardboard (check, it does that with ease), carpet, leather, wire, and can be used for trimming in the garden, but where it REALLY excels is on those stupid, hard-to-open thermoformed plastic packages that nearly everything comes in these days.

Give one of these cutters to Mom to keep in the kitchen drawer and she'll sing your praises every time she easily cuts throw one of those pesky packages.  (Hint: Guys, you are gonna like this tool so much, you should buy another one to keep in your shop.) Pricing well below $50.

Milwaukee M12 Cordless Power Port - 2349-20

If Mom is always on the go and her phone is her lifeline, check this out.  You've heard it before (in fact, you probably thought you'd never hear the end of it) when her battery dies, and we all know, when Momma ain't happy, ain't NOBODY happy.  So, here's a gift that will make her happy, therefore making your life just a little more peaceful.

More than likely, you already have some of the Milwaukee M12 tools in your shop.  If you don't, then you should.  The cordless power port uses the M12 rechargeable battery, and it has both DC and USB ports.  To read the review of this tool: CLICK HERE.

She can give her phone a boost while she's out doing what Moms do best which is running here, there and everywhere. For under $30 (battery and charger sold separately - but hey, that gives YOU and excuse to buy more batteries), it's a bargain!

Black & Decker Platinum 20V Max Cordless Hand Vac - BDH2000L

Before you skip over this item, saying "My wife (or Mom) would KILL me if I got her a vacuum for Mother's Day", take a minute and check out this little sucker.  The Black & Decker Platinum 20V Max Lithium Ion Cordless hand vac will make her life so much easier, and she's not as likely to get mad at you for the messes you make if she (or you) can quickly and easily clean them up.

With this lightweight, extremely portable vac, dust, dirt, pet hair, crumbs, and yes even sawdust are sucked up in a snap.  The bowl is transparent, so you can see when it needs to be emptied, and both the bowl and the filter can be washed.

I have a feeling if you choose this as your gift, in very little time you'll be buying a second one to keep in your shop.  It's about $90, but worth every penny!

DEWALT Folding Retractable Utility Knife DWHT10035L

Brad Staggs reviewed this knife several months ago, but it's still a favorite among both sexes in the Tool Skool Workshop.

It's going to take a lot for another utility knife to take its place as my favorite.  I have one in my car and one in the shop.  Just today, I had a lot of boxes to go through, empty out, and break down for recycling.

This is the right tool for the job because it's so easy to  pull out, open up, cut through the cardboard with ease, and fold back up and clip to your belt or pocket.  Mom will like the safety aspect of the knife, and you'll think it's cool to see a chick carrying a DEWALT knife on her belt!  For around $10, you can't beat this gift idea!

Tomboy Tools Hammer Bottle Opener

We already suggested a gift for the woman who likes wine, and now here's one for the beer drinking gals!  We learned about Tomboy Tools many years ago when producing shows for the DIY Network, but recently, they came out with what they call a novelty tool that may be one of my favorite tools ever, and I promise you Mom will LOVE it too!

It's definitely a light duty hammer: perfect for hanging pictures, driving stakes in the garden, or camping.  But, Mom will be surprised out how often a small hammer is all she needs to get the job done.  She can't pull nails with it, because instead of a claw, there is a bottle opener instead.

Every Mom needs a light duty hammer to stick in the kitchen drawer, and she can pull this one out for parties and be the toast of her friends.   For under $10, this is another "can't go wrong" gift idea.

Stanley 14 in 1 Multi-Tool - STHT70695

Guys, if you don't already have the Stanley 14 in 1 Multi-tool, you'll need to pick up two of these.  One to give Mom, and one to keep for yourself.  Compact and lightweight (it’s a bit bigger than a pocket knife or a “Leatherman” style multi-tool), it’s the perfect size to put in the glove box of your car, a kitchen draw, or in a tool box.Open it up and on one side, you'll find a knife blade, saw blade, driver, file, and bottle opener (can you see a theme here?). On the other side, there are 4 sizes of sockets and 6 driver bits.  It's like a little tool box all in one neat little package that you can wrap up and give to Mom for less than $15.  What a bargain.Stanley 14 in 1 Multi-tool
