DEWALT 20V Max TOP

This past Saturday I had a demolition project and needed just the right tool to get it done.  The DEWALT 20V Max Reciprocating Saw (DCS380) turned out to be the perfect tool for the job.  Here’s what happened.  Three years ago, I built our boys L-Shaped Bunk Beds. Now that they are older, we needed to make that room a Man-Cave and DEWALT helped me out.  Here’s what I learned about the DEWALT 20V MAX Reciprocating Saw while completing the project.

First:  It feels really good in my hands, which is important when using a tool that creates a little kick back.  The variable speed trigger is positioned correctly for the average sized hand and the grip is not too large.  It’s balanced really well and comes with a front rubber over-mold grip that makes for good control and comfort.  And to top it off, the compact size of the DCS380 20V MAX Reciprocating Saw is a huge plus.

Second:  Both the smaller size and the unique 4-position keyless blade clamp are really great for flush cutting in awkward or tight spaces without bending the blade.

Not to mention hands free blade release: No more burnt fingers by forgetting and touching a hot blade.  Note:  I’ve only heard about this, never really experienced it.  LOL

Third:  The DCS380 had plenty of power to tackle my projects.  Its 1 1/8” stroke length and 0-3000spm variable speed trigger made light duty of cutting through those 2x4’s and 4x4’s in the bunk beds. 16cc nails and hardened Deck screws felt its wrath too. The 20V MAX Lithium Ion 3.0 ah battery is more than adequate to get this (or any other) job done.  And you can’t beat the DEWALT 3-year limited warranty, 1-year free service contract, and 90-day money-back guarantee.  Additionally, the Lithium Ion 3.0 ah Battery pack has a 3-year free service contract.

Final Thoughts:  Most of the time when I review a tool, I will find something that I would change or maybe move a little.  I think this is one of the few times I wouldn’t change anything about this tool.  With it compact size, power and ability to cut flush without bending the blade, I believe the DCS380 would be a great addition to any toolbox, Pro or Hardcore DIYer.
