Porter Cable PCE605K Oscillating Tool

The National Hardware Show was a little less crowded this year than in the past. We're not sure if it's a sign of the economy or something else. Whatever the case, we got to see some great new tools and accessories from several companies, including Porter Cable. They introduced us to their latest version of the Oscillating Tool and we were impressed with the features.

For starters, the blade change is pretty ingenious - just depress the lever and swap out your accessory. They might be nipping at Bosch's heels with this one!

Their roller guide assembly also makes good sense. By changing its position, you can alter how far you plunge-cut or simply use it as a roller guide to keep it "between the lines". My first thought was that they had put a lot of stuff on the front end of this tool that could potentially get in the way. It's all growing on me now, though...I like the features and their benefits, but I'll reserve judgment until I get to use one for awhile. Stay tuned.
