If you've never been to the Consumer Electronics Show, it's hard to imagine just how large it is and how much ground a person needs to cover in a day just to see half of what's on display. A lot of those displays have something to do with cell phones and iPhones in particular. Such was the case (literally) at the Otterbox booth. Their new Defender Series with ION Intelligence marks what they call another milestone in their history.
The new Defender series will include all of the features that Otterbox has become known for.
The new Defender Series is Otterbox's first battery-powered protective cell phone case, and it's seemingly packed with new tech.

- LED lights indicate remaining battery life
- Integrated APP learns your phone habits
- Visual indicators of % and time left on battery
This is definitely not your grandad's iPhone case, given all the new gizmos. We didn't get to try out the tech ourselves, but were given a thorough demonstration and it looks simple enough to navigate. We'll know more once it's released, of course.
Otterbox - Worth The Price?
I've used an Otterbox case on my iPhone in the past and it was unbelievably rugged. I tend to drop things (always have), and the Otterbox saved my bacon, as well as my phone, on more than one occasion. Their exchange/repair policy has been extremely fair, in my opinion and they seem to genuinely care about customer satisfaction. That in itself is worth the price of admission, since most companies don't seem to care whether or not you're satisfied or happy with their product. Unfortunately, it's a problem in customer service throughout this country, but I digress...
Bottom line, if you have an expensive phone - you need either protection or a large bankroll. Otterbox cases are inexpensive compared to replacing a phone - a very cheap insurance policy in my opinion.
