In case you hadn't heard, Kreg is the exclusive distributor for Triton tools in the U.S. We stopped at their booth during the National Hardware Show to see several new tools and accessories, and got a great look at Triton's TA1200BS and TCMBS Belt Sanders.

Triton TA1200BS Belt Sander Features

• 3x21 Sanding Belt
• 10.6 lbs.
• 10 amp motor
• Variable speed
• Belt adjustment

The larger TA1200BS has some handy features that would make it at home in any shop, but especially those that are 'space-challenged'. We liked the fact that it could be used up against walls in a hardwood refinishing project. Additionally, the inversion capability and included clamps transform it into a stationary tool.

Triton TCMBS Belt Sander Features

• 2.5x16 Sanding Belt
• Also accepts 2 1/3x15 3/4 Sanding Belts
• 4.6 lbs.
• 3.5 amp motor
• Belt adjustment

The TCMBS is more suited to handheld jobs and offers smooth operation and minimal jitter, according to Kreg's Dave Stone. It's perfect for smaller projects where the TC1200BS would be overkill.

Both tools have received minimal reviews online at this point, but they both looked solid and performed well during the demonstrations we saw. The smaller sander is certainly priced right for the cash-strapped woodworker, while the larger of the two offers sufficient features to justify the price tag.
